Preventing Peri-Implant Disease

Peri-implant ("around the implant") diseases are inflammatory conditions that affect the soft and hard gum tissues around dental implants. Just like a natural tooth, bacteria can build up around the implant below the gum line. Over time, these bacteria will irritate the gum tissue, causing it to become inflamed and damaging the tissue.
