It is not uncommon to have tooth like pain from a source other than a tooth. It is also very common to perceive that one tooth is causing pain that is really coming from another tooth. An Endodontist can perform a technically successful root canal that can fail. Your money is important and we do not want to waste it. A thorough, but focused examination and discussion with you will help determine appropriate care.
Non-surgical treatment is a process of removing the diseased pulp from your tooth after you are numb. The pulp is removed using small files and the root canal system is thoroughly cleaned, shaped, and sealed. This is the most successful form of endodontic treatment. If this treatment is not possible, we will discuss alternative treatments and their success and failure rates.
Under certain circumstances, a surgical approach may be indicated to produce the best outcome. As always, if other non-root canal treatments will produce a better result, we will discuss those procedures with you as well.
If endodontic treatment is not indicated, the reasons will be discussed with you, and your restorative dentist will be consulted as to the best options for your continued care.
